Oxfam Ireland: One person in three in the world lives in poverty. Oxfam is determined to change that world by mobilising the power of people against poverty.
Around the globe, Oxfam works to find practical, innovative ways for people to lift themselves out of poverty and thrive. We save lives and help rebuild livelihoods when crisis strikes. And we campaign so that the voices of the poor influence the local and global decisions that affect them.
In all we do, Oxfam works with partner organisations and alongside vulnerable women and men to end the injustices that cause poverty.

A MESSAGE FROM OUR CEO JIM CLARKEN
The child who wants to go to school, the mother who needs healthcare for her baby, the farmer who sees drought wipe out his crops and livestock, the women whose voices need to be heard in the decision-making process, the young people whose lives could be transformed with business training, the family who have lost everything in a natural disaster.
At Oxfam Ireland, we work with people affected by poverty and injustice, supporting their empowerment to exercise their human rights and take control of their lives. From our volunteers in Dublin and shops in Down to our programme team in Dar Es Salaam and our partners all over the world, we work together to achieve our vision of a just world without poverty.
We respond to humanitarian emergencies around the world – wherever they happen. We help people to help themselves and build a brighter future through ourlong-term projects. We campaign nationally and internationally on issues ranging from the arms trade to women’s rights.
But we couldn’t do this work without the support of one vital partner – you. Irrespective of the difficult circumstances many face at home, our supporters in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland appreciate the struggle to survive faced by millions overseas. With growing public support despite the challenging times, we continue to grow as a proactive, transparent and effective development agency.
We are a consistently reliable and trusted vocal campaigner and commentator on development issues. And, most importantly, we are increasing the impact of our work overseas, thanks to our loyal and committed supporters, who continue to support our life-saving efforts, our crucial campaigning work and the empowerment of communities to create a positive future in the long-term.
